Growing up Gretchen was never a dancer, didn't play sports, and wasn't particularly athletic.  She was a shy kid who was usually too scared to get involved with any organized activities.  In high school, she became more comfortable in her skin and also got really into running—but still on her own. For years all she did was log miles, which ended up leading to an injury that forced her to seek out other forms of exercise.  Although she had never been interested in group exercise, a friend of hers repeatedly told her she’d love barre. It took one class before she was fully committed and made it a huge part of her weekly routine.

I love that I get to spend every day with such an amazing group of people—from our instructors to our OG clients to the client who just walked through the door—the interpersonal connections in this studio make me love my job.

Barre took over as her preferred daily exercise and although she loved the workout and benefits, she was amazed at how much the women around her motivated her to want to attend—and soon teach—class each day. It wasn’t long before her now husband saw this spark and pushed her to leave the corporate world to open her own studio.

Now with over 10 years of teaching experience and well over 1000 classes in this studio alone, it’s clear after taking even one class with her that her passion lies in teaching and harvesting this community of amazing people.
